LETTER to Robert Steed from Thomas Merton--April 12, 1962
Dear Bob,
I am glad you found the article and glad you sent it down. I have been through it again and made changes. The changes I want made are now incorporated in the article, so you do not have to worry about the list I sent Dorothy unless there is something there you want to change and that I have not indicated here. The wording may be different sometimes.

As for the title you can call it whatever you want.

One thing I think may be required: a footnote to the effect that this article contains fragments of an article that appeared previously in The Commonweal, Feb. 9th, this year. It can be considered an expanded, corrected and definitive version of that previous article. At least some acknowledgement to Commonweal may be required. Apart from that I can think of no more snags.

Best Easter wishes to all of you. May the Risen Lord give us new and purer faith. Certainly there is no question that for Christians in the peace movement the basic need is deep faith. Without that we are practically useless, and have nothing significant to contribute by our action. I will keep you all in my prayers. Do please pray for me also and the novices.

With all best wishes,
Cordially yours in Christ,
Tom
