THREE CONVERTS TO CATHOLICISM

Waugh was critical of Thomas Merton's writing, in style, in content and whether he as a cloistered monk should be writing at all...See the Letters of Evelyn Waugh. Also suggested Merton was probably not really called to the monastic life.

I've ordered Waugh's correspondence from the library. Waugh did, however, edit the English edition of Merton's autobiography, ELECTED SILENCE. RS
