Letter from a Prisoner of Conscience
In response to a letter from me Mark Kenney, who is doing time in a Federal prison wrote to me:

"Dear Mr. Robert Steed,
Thank you so much for writing to me. I appreciate the article on Tolstoy. I read "War and Peace" the last time I was in prison. Anarchy is still a difficult concept for me to embrace
fully as many of my Catholic Worker friends have seemed to embrace.

"As far as operating in the Tolstoyan tradition, that may or may not be true. As a Catholic and a Christian I am more concerned with operating in the Gospel tradition of obeying God rather than men.

"While civil resistance is certainly an outward attribute of what I do, I feel I engage in these activities more out of obedience to a well ordered society of the Kingdom of Heaven than simply engaging in acts of anarchy directed towards the U.S. military industrial complex.

Again, thanks so much for writing, In Christ's peace and solidarity, Mark Kenney."
